Carey Whittaker

Carey is the latest physiotherapist to join our team at the Witney Physiotherapy Centre, starting with us in May 2011.  She brings a wealth of former experience and is particularly focussed on the care, prevention and rehabilitation of sporting injuries.

Caery’s interest in the benefits that physiotherapy can bring to sportsmen and women have been a constant theme throughout her career. She graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy at Birmingham University in 1990, then completed four years of general clinic rotations in Jersey.  After specialising in musculoskeletal injuries, she took a post as Station Physiotherapist at RAF Coltishall in Norfolk.  She then moved on to Bath Rugby Club where she spent four years providing pre-hab and rehabilitation to first team players and match-day physiotherapy cover during the premier league season 2002-2004.  During this time Carey also had secondments to Renault Formula 1 as physiotherapist to the drivers at Silverstone tests.

Her preferred treament methods include soft-tissue mobilisation, joint mobilisation and manipulation.  A strong emphasis is placed on re-education of joint proprioception and stabilising muscles to help prevent reoccurrence of injury.  Carey is a member of the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).

In her spare time, Carey is a keen road-biker, runner and swimmer.
